ENQA - International collaborations

The HQA was granted full membership to the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education- ENQA in June 2015, and to the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education - INQAAHE, thus establishing its position at European and international level.

The HQA has been an affiliate member of ENQA since 2007. Following the completion of the self-evaluation report, the HQA applied to ENQA for full membership (Article 74 par. 1 of Greek Law 4009/2011). An external evaluation followed led by an ENQA experts committee in January 2015. During the review, the ENQA committee met with high-ranking administration officials, the rectors and/or vice-rectors and the presidents of the institutions and the QAUs, as well as with external evaluators of academic units, and representatives of students and stakeholders.

ENQA is a coordinating body for the evaluation of institutions of higher education at European level and its mission is to define criteria, guidelines and standards for quality assurance (European Standards and Guidelines (ESG 2015) in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). Its members are national quality assurance agencies in higher education, operating within the European Higher Education Area, such as the HQA. ENQA also collaborates with European organisations in the field of higher education (EUA, EURASHE, EQAR, ESU etc.) as well as with international quality assurance networks (INQAAHE, APQN).

In its capacity as a full member to these networks, the HQA becomes actively involved in ENQA bodies and decision-making; it is also called upon to meet new challenges by taking part in a continuous and constructive dialogue on current trends and developments taking place in the field of quality assurance in higher education.
